BLINDING
Blinded or masked clinical trials is when information is withheld that could influence the outcome until after the trial is completed. Some clinical trials are blinded. In single-blinded trials, the participant does not know if they are receiving the medication or intervention being tested. In double-blind trials, neither the research team nor the participant know which treatment is being received. Blinding can reduce bias while the trial is being conducted.

IRB
Each clinical trial is overseen by the IRB (Institutional Review Board), a federally regulated organization. The IRB is a committee designed to protect the health, safety and well-being of of clinical trial participants.
